We're buying about 8 acres (2 acres mowing) in lower NY state. The current owner wanted to sell a used compact tractor. I wanted to buy it. The dealer found enough wrong that I didn't accept the offered unit. This site is GREAT for a tractor owner wannabe like me. I've a lot to learn and there's a lot here. I'm learning about makes/models/attachments etc.One major question: isn't there a common reference site with specs on the most popular compact tractors of recent years? I want to scan paper and online ads to guage prices; getting ready to buy something for snow removal this winter. Where can I look up the HP, drive wheels, weight, pump capacity, etc., on units I see advertised? Do I need to buy a price/feature book on used tractors, or is it online SOMEWHERE?!.........tia, Rich S.

For compacts and larger tractors (no lawn & garden tractors), lots of people like the Intertec Used Tractor Price Guide. Each entry provides approx. retail price when new, used values for Fair, Good and Premium condition, engine make, no. of cylinders, displacement, transmission speeds, PTO horsepower and weight. Entries are sorted by manufacturer, year and model.Available at the link listed below. ....

Actually, I think this is about the best $12 investment a used tractor shopper can make. Quite a bit of information on a lot of makes and models, cheap. I highly recommend this book and don't understand how this is not informative. ....
